The Final Summer!
by Esther on 24 September 2026
Happy Autumn! I look forward to the cooler weather and a slower pace of life ahead. This summer has been busy. A majority of it is just work banter, of which I shall not bore you. Between hopping between places and working on my own projects, I somehow got a lot done and nothing at the same time.
This summer, I officially started looking into what I might want to do next year. I hope as application deadlines approach to create something fun to track all the possibilities. Currently, I have most of my hopes on an opportunity that has ≤12% chance of acceptance. Probably not the wisest choice, but I suppose I like to try my luck at times. I still have to wrap my head around the fact that I am living the present and actively sorting out something a year out at the same time. It feels weird because the last time I did this, I had a guaranteed thing I would be doing, and now… I am kind of gambling without the security of what I have always had as a fallback.
August has been busy with school back in session. Being both a teacher and student is wild yet fun, but I look forward to the days when I have time to do my personal things. My good friend Megan moved to my town, so it has been very fun to do things together. We visited a few churches, went to the zoo, and explored other parts of where we live. We also did things with Mabyn, so we can also do things as a group. Yes, between the two of them the names keep me on my toes.
I have also started getting back to reading for fun. It is time to start decluttering for next year, and the books are part of the items to go through. My county has been trying to fight the literacy crisis through some friendly competition on Beanstack, so I have started to log my reading on it again. My current mentor got me into audiobooks for the commute, and so between my drives, uni readings, and personal TBRs, I have actually started to get back into reading for fun. I will say, logging my reading. I still miss being in primary school when I could read all day Saturday, but as we count down to finishing uni, I hope to be back to having time to read. Additionally, a new little library was installed near me, so it has been motivating to read the plethora of books I have accumulated. I hope to visit other LFLs in the area so as to not cram my books into one place, and slowly make the pile of books smaller!
Grab a book or go outside! Whatever you do, happy cooler weather season!
