Finding Normal!

by Esther on 23 June 2026

This quarter was the first time in a long time where I am beginning to feel like myself again. I am still rather hesitant to go places alone, but I have found a few spots in town I feel confident enough to go whenever I need to get out of the house. I never expected my life to go from being able to go anywhere I wanted to needing to be accompanied full time all because I returned to the states. Yeah for those that are not aware, a month into my return, I received my first set of threats, and now I am basically living a weird “I don’t exist but I do” kind of life. Trust me, this weird dynamic has only made me miss Lithuania more which has affected my transition back to the stateside of things. I am glad though that through friends, I have been able to find a few places and things I enjoy as I figure out who I am in this new and messed up version of normal.

So what have I been up to lately? Well, I bring this episode a bit late because I recently finished my sixth term of uni this past week. I finished another six courses towards my degree and I got to learn from an amazing mentor teacher while teaching 43 amazing grade five students. School was chaotic this term, which I share in my term recap video, and a proud moment was that I did not have to use the dictionary as much this term compared to last. I also finished up my Gilman project requirements, so my IG page is shifting gears some to talk more about life after my exchange (thinking about sharing some behind the scenes from my Exchange Life series). Lastly, I am already having to think about what to do in a year from now, so hopefully new adventures await me once I overcome my current goal.

As I look forward to a brighter future, I have to also acknowledge all that has happened this past year. They say hard times are here to mold us and build us stronger, but is that really true? I guess this and other questions of mine cannot be truly answered at this time. I would love to hear your thoughts on this question. Until then, I wish everyone a happy summer!
