A Botched Spring Break!

by Esther on 18 April 2022

Happy April! We are done with the last and final break for school and on the homestretch for school. April has had its ups and downs, to say the least. School has been honestly a blur. I have been procrastinating a lot in my opinion yet somehow on top of my work. Film class has been fun and complex. I have been trying to balance what I do for PDS.TV and what class assignments I need to do. My biggest project for this semester is working on the graduation video for our Class of 2022. For APUSH, we have completed the content officially. We are three weeks out from the official exam and I have since forgotten everything (LOL).

The family is a rollercoaster, so to simplify it we shall just do a run down. First up, my grandmother fell again. She was taken to Northside two days later with a compression fracture and lacerated spleen. We don’t know how she fell as no one saw it happen. She is doing better now, but she is definitely not as agile. My dad and mom have been attending to her a lot during this time. Up in VA, Justin is going to graduate in less than a month with is so crazy. He has some aspirations he would like to seek and so best of luck with that. We can’t wait to travel up for him and Garrison (a friend) walking the stage! Those two have worked hard to graduate! Speaking of graduation, Andrew is also a little over a month away from graduating from High School! I can’t believe how far the two of us have come. I remember when he was shorter than me and telling me how he got detention with Mrs. Ficken for math. His math hasn’t improved, but he’s definitely taller than me now. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has planned for him.

As for me, well… if there was one word to describe everything, Trance. Trance is essentially when you are in a half-conscious state.  Life for me has just flashed and I find myself sitting there going, “did that just happen?” I am officially in the college shopping stage of life. I got to visit the University of North Georgia (UNG) and Oxford College of Emory this past week. I really love UNG and can really see myself going there. My mom jokes it’s cause they have a drill field. Maybe? I also enjoy the buildings on campus including Dunlap Hall, where I assume I will be spending a lot of time. Dunlap Hall houses the courses for education majors and houses foreign language classes. As for Oxford, I don’t see it as a reasonable school for me to attend. I enjoy the small school body and small easy to navigate campus, but for someone who isn’t planning to go to Emory, it doesn’t really make sense to pay so much. I mean the application itself is like $75 which is insane. While at Oxford, Professor Hardy spotted my mom and me and we got to talk some. He teaches statistics and one other course. He was really nice and it was really cool to speak with a professor.

Now spring break was a botched spring break. We were supposed to have friends from Cali fly in, but their flight was cancelled when they were supposed to board. We talked about a second attempt, but because of how tiring travelling is, we forfeited the plan. This actually helped because my grandmother fell the morning they were supposed to fly in, so they didn’t have to get tangled up in the whole fiasco. Hopefully, they can visit sometimes soon! But cancelled plans don’t mean other doors don’t open. I got to visit the office which was really nice. It’s weird to think how I can’t even remember the last time I have been. Unfortunately, Special Nana took the kids. Like Papa said, “How come she’s Special Nana taking the kids?” I usually go to see the kids, but I have also found it really nice to just see the adults. I got to see Sadie the Sunday she got back, and she is becoming a little pro at running the show for Watershed Sunday Nights.

That’s the crazy life I have been living! So much happening! Hoping you all are doing well! Have a wonderful rest of your April!!

Finding your Million Dollar Mate by Randy Pope. This is a short read that reminds you that a long-lasting relationship is more than just physical appearance or the personality of the other person, but rather a spiritual attraction. PDS.TV 3.30.22 is our latest full show. We only have 2 more shows for this season which is honestly really crazy to think about. A Ghost for Rosanda Documentary is PDS’s award-winning documentary. Though I didn’t get to work in this, this is definitely a flex for our school. Francophonie Segment Full is the main segment I got to work on for our show coming out this coming Wednesday. Andrew and I have been requested to shorten the segment used in the show, but this version is the original cut. Thank you to the teachers who helped us.
